Police Encourage Residents To Secure Homes Due To Burglary Rise
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) is encouraging residents to properly secure their homes in light of an increase in burglaries across the British Virgin Islands.
A recent bulletin stressed that burglars are looking for any weak points of entry and advised residents to lock all windows and “repair all locking mechanisms for any inoperable windows.”
Another tip from the police is the installation of CCTV cameras on properties.
“The footage can be stored remotely on the cloud and can be monitored in real-time from any location around the world. Law enforcement can also be alerted while the offense is being committed.” the police bulletin said.
There has been an increase in burglaries with bandits stealing values including jewellery and tools.
