Rikkoi Brathwaite Takes Bronze In 100m – CAC Games In El Salvador

Rikkoi Brathwaite crossed the finish line in 10.26 seconds in the 100m race on Monday, winning a second bronze medal for the British Virgin Islands at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games.

The men’s July 3 final was won by Guyana’s Emanuel Archibald who clocked 10.24 seconds, while the silver medal went to Jose Gonzalez of the Dominican Republic.

The territory’s first bronze medal at this year’s CAC games was won by Djimon Gumbs on July 3. He threw 19.00 meters in the highly contested shot put event.

BVI’s first ever CAC Games medal was a gold won by Dion Crabbe in the 100m in 2002.

His first place finish set a new national record of 10.28 seconds.

Ten years later, Braithwaite set a new national record of 10.20 at the 2022 NACAC Open Championships in Freeport, Bahamas.

Four track athletes, three field athletes, one sailor, and one archer are representing the BVI at this year’s CAC games in San Salvador, El Salvador.

CAC games kicked off on June 23 and will conclude on July 8.
