Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley said Friday night’s free Non Stop Concert to celebrate the successful launch of American Airlines service between the United States and the British Virgin Islands was a “tremendous success.”

In an interview with Jahphixtelevision.com, the Premier today, July 1, confirmed that Vice President of International Operations for American Airlines subsidiary Envoy, Jorge Ramirez-Blanco and his family attended the concert at Festival Grounds in Road Town, Tortola.

“Last night was a tremendous success and an excellent start to the festival season. The Vice President of International Operations for American Airlines subsidiary Envoy, Jorge Ramirez-Blanco, was in attendance along with his family, and he was extremely pleased with the event,” Wheatley said.

Hundreds turned out to see Jamaican star Konshen and United States Virgin Islands international group Rock City shared the stage with local performers Kamau A. George and Jeremony Vanterpool amongst others

The Finance Minister added: “Certainly it sends a message about the BVI making the investments necessary to make it an even more attractive destination. We received visitors from abroad and our residents came out and had a great time. Local businesses made money, and this was an encouraging start to the vision of establishing entertainment tourism in the Virgin islands.”

He congratulated the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board Director Clive McCoy and Events Manager Dirk Walters on organising a successful event.

“I congratulate the Tourist board Director Clive McCoy and Events Manager Dirk Walters along with the entire Tourist Board Team, our sponsors and partners, for making this the epic event that it was.”

On June 1, American Airlines successfully launched its Non Stop service between Miami International Airport and Terrance B International Airport on Beef Island.
