D’Moi Hodge’ relatives departed the British Virgin Islands this week for the United States to support him during the June 22 NBA Draft which will be held at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn.

On Thursday, the British Virgin Islands basketball star will know which team he will play for in the upcoming season.

The territory has been anxiously following his NBA journey so far. The Virgin Islands Recreation Trust is also hosting a NBA Draft Watch Party at the Multipurpose Sports Complex at 8 p.m.

Hodge interviewed with 19 different teams, proudly sharing his story – an island boy who has battled challenges for a chance to play in the NBA.

The 6′ 4″ basketballer has also worked out for the LA Lakers Timberwolves, Blazers, Pacers and Wizards.

His statistics are good. He entered the NBA draft averaging 14.7 points, 3.9 assists and 2.6 steals per game on 47.7 percent shooting from the field and 40.0 percent from 3 as a fifth-year senior.

The University of Missouri graduate was named the 2022 Horizon Defensive Player of the Year, is a 2021-22 All-Horizon first-team selection and led the SEC in steals per game and three-point percentage in 2022-23.

Hodge has been described as an elite perimeter defender with a lightning-quick release from three-point range which will open up a lot for the Nets.
