British Virgin Islands track and field twin power Diamante and Djimon Gumbs are back on the track this month end at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships
First Round in Florida, United States.

The May 24 – 27 compeition comes less than three weeks after the duo dominated the Southland Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Texas.

Diamante was named Conference Champion in discus and Most Valuable Performer in Men’s Outdoor Track and Field. He is now the BVI national record holder in the weight throw with 17.62m.

“It feels very fulfilling that I am now Conference Champion Outdoors in the discus throw. Those days at the Conference Championships were very tough on me physically, mentally, and emotionally, but I trusted in God and He lead me through it. I battled injury with a strained tricep on my throwing arm but I tried my best to push the pain to the side and perform to the best of my capabilities,” he shared with jahphixtelevision.com.

During the three days of competition in the Memorial Stadium, his brother Djimon, won a silver medal in the discus, was named Conference Champion in the shot put and also took home bronze in the javelin.

There is absolute respect and support between the two athletes. Anyone reading their social media post will see easy banter between the siblings.

The duo has been training hard for events this month end in Florida.

“We motivate each other to be the best no matter where we go. No matter if I win or he wins, we both see it as a victory,” Diamante.
