It was her spectacular record breaking 200m at the New Balance Indoors High School Championships on March 12 in Boston that tipped the scales for Adaejah Hodge.

The 16-year-old British Virgin Islander was this week named MileSplit50 Athlete of the Year.

She has had an impressive season, racing 22.33 and smashing a national record in the 200m that re-set a new World U20 record at New Balance in Boston.

She won with votes from the MileSplit national team and the high school track and field community on Twitter and Instagram.

Hodge gained regional stardom at the 2022 Carifta Games in Jamaica where she won the 100m in 11.29, the 200m in 23.42, and gold in the long jump with a distance of  6.20 metres.

At the end of the games, she was named most outstanding athlete and received the coveted Austin Sealy Award.

The BVI athletics community and the entire territory congratulated Hodge on her award.
