ELECTIONS 2023: Full slate for VIP!

(JTV News) — Several hours after the date for the General Election was announced, the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) has revealed in a press release, that it has confirmed the selection of its District 2 and District 3 candidates, as well as its fourth at-large candidate which completes its full slate of 13 candidates for the April 24 polls.

The VIP said the selection was carried out a special meeting convened by its Congress on Wednesday, March 15.

The District 2 candidate is Marieta Flax-Headley, while the District 3 candidate is Kevin ‘OJ’ Smith.

The fourth at-large candidate confirmed is Zoe Walcott.

District Candidates:
1st District – Dr. Karl Dawson
2nd District – Marieta Flax-Headley
3rd District – Kevin Smith
4th District – Mrs. Luce Hodge-Smith
5th District – Hon. Kye Rymer
6th District – Hon. Alvera Maduro-Caines
7th District – Dr. the Hon. Natalio Wheatley
8th District – Mr. Allen Wheatley
9th District – Hon. Vincent Wheatley

At-Large Candidates:
Hon. Neville Smith
Hon. Carvin Malone
Hon. Sharie B. de Castro
Zoe J. Walcott

According to the press release, voting was also done to fill the vacant positions of Vice President, who is now Dela John Baptiste, and Assistant Public Relations Officer, who is now Akeel Thomas.

The VIP said it remains “committed to promoting good governance and demonstrating unity and strength” as it approaches the 2023 elections.

The party’s president, Sharia de Castro, was quoted as saying in the press release: “We are extremely excited about our slate of candidates to date, going into the 2023 elections. We are ready to confidently represent and serve the people of these Virgin Islands. We also look forward to working together to take the territory in one direction, forward!”
