Ninth District Representative Vincent O. Wheatley said he plans to continue the “transformation” of his district if re-elected.
Wheatley was among the 10 candidates confirmed by the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Congress last Sunday, to participate in the General Elections.
A date has not yet been announced for the elections, which is due this year.
In a Facebook post, Wheatley, the former Sister Islands Coordinator, said: “I was overwhelmingly and convincingly elected by the people of the Ninth District to serve them with Team VIP during one of the most difficult times in modern history.
“On Sunday I was ratified by the Congress of the VIP to continue the transformation of the District with Team VIP, a task I humbly accept. Let the transformation continue!”
Wheatley was replaced by Second District Representative Melvin M. Turnbull as Minister for Natural Resources and Labour when the Government of National Unity was formed.
