Carvin Malone seeks more time for extension of submissions to CRC
(JTV News) — One Virgin Islands Agenda advocate and Territorial At-Large Representative, Carvin Malone, is seeking more time from the Constitutional Reform Commission (CRC) for the submission of recommendations.
January 31st, 2023 marked the end of the three-month consultative process.
In an interview with JTV’s The Big Story, hosted by Cathy Richards, Malone says three months always appeared suspect, or in other words, not long enough.
Malone says the CRC has until the end of June 2023 to submit their report. However, Malone says he understands that the Commission is requesting a six-month extension to have the report submitted during or by the end of December.
Malone also disclosed that educational and civic organisations have expressed an interest in more consultations,
According to its website, One Virgin Islands Agenda is a movement that was organized by concerned Virgin Islanders.
“The movement is focused on encouraging residents to participate and learn as much as possible about the currently occurring Constitutional Review process.
“The group is nonpartisan and was created from shared ideas and numerous conversations between like-minded Virgin Islanders who have all expressed interest in seeing the Territory advance towards the next frontier of its economic evolution.
“The aim of the movement is to simplify the participation of residents in the BVI Constitutional Review with Hon Carvin Malone,” the website added.
