Man Robbed at Gunpoint After Receiving Roadside Assistance in Tortola
A man was reportedly robbed at gunpoint around 3:00 a.m. on March 15, along Ridge Road, Tortola, after crashing into a pole and damaging one of his tires. As he exited his vehicle to assess the damage, a man driving a Kia Sportage with a rental plate stopped and offered assistance in changing the tire.
Once the tire was replaced, the suspect allegedly offered the victim $2,000 for a chain he was wearing. When the offer was refused, the suspect reportedly drew a firearm, took the chain by force that was valued at $4000, and fled the scene.
A female passenger inside the victim’s vehicle is said to have witnessed the incident. Reports indicate that the suspect was not wearing a mask or any other disguise at the time of the robbery.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) have not yet confirmed any arrests as investigations continue.
