Motorist Arrested for Marijuana Possession After High-Speed Chase
Morgan Maduro, 20, of Baugher’s Bay, was arrested following a high-speed pursuit that ended in Sea Cows Bay on Monday, February 24.
According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), officers on patrol in Lower Estate, observed a Suzuki Jimny with heavily tinted windows and an obscured registration plate. When officers signaled the driver to stop, the vehicle accelerated, prompting a police chase.
The pursuit ended in Sea Cows Bay at Bound Tree Road, where officers intercepted the vehicle. A subsequent search uncovered 24.7 grams of marijuana. Maduro was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Drug and Reckless and Negligent Act.
Authorities said he was granted $5,000 bail and is scheduled to appear before the Magistrate’s Court on April 10, 2025. Additional traffic-related charges are pending.
The RVIPF reminded motorists to comply with traffic laws and stop when signaled by law enforcement.
