The Department of Waste Management has achieved a significant milestone with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Waste Oil Facility in Sea Cow’s Bay.
Operational since Friday, April 5, the facility boasts the capacity to store up to 20,000 gallons of used oil, marking a significant advancement in waste management infrastructure.
Deputy Director, Mr. Anslem Myers, underscored the department’s commitment to effective waste management, stating that the facility has engaged the services of a dedicated company tasked with managing the facility and collecting used oil from public waste bins across the Territory.
Residents are encouraged to deposit their used or waste oil near the public bins for collection and subsequent transportation to the facility. Additionally, individuals have the option to deliver small quantities of waste oil directly to the site during designated hours, from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., starting April 8.
Mr. Myers emphasized, “We will be accepting small quantities of waste oil from households, small commercial businesses, hotels, restaurants, and government organizations.”
However, he stressed that the facility does not accept oil products in large quantities or from large commercial entities such as charter or fuel companies.
The Department of Waste Management remains steadfast in its mission to preserve the natural beauty of the Territory through the implementation of cutting-edge waste management technology, ensuring prompt collection, disposal, and whenever feasible, the recycling of waste materials.
