21 Illegal Migrants Discovered in Virgin Gorda

Twenty-one illegal migrants were found today, March 21 in the North Sound area of Virgin Gorda.

The Marine arm of the Joint Task Force facilitated their transportation and they are currently undergoing processing for detention and repatriation. The migrants come from various nationalities including Romanian, Haitian, Colombian, American, Irish and Ecuadorian.

The Department of Immigration’s Enforcement Unit is conducting intake procedures for the migrants. Efforts by the Department of Immigration and the Joint Task Force aim to enhance border security and ensure the safety of residents.

Acting Chief Immigration Officer Mrs. Nadia Demming-Hodge urges anyone with information about these migrants to contact the Department of Immigration at 468-4705 or 468-4754, or the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force Hotline at 311.

The Department of Immigration reiterates its commitment to national security and the stability and development of the Virgin Islands through the safeguarding of borders and adherence to principles of integrity.
