Cruise Ship Tourist Rescued at Sea
A male tourist visiting the Virgin Islands aboard the Aida Diva cruise ship found himself in a life-threatening situation earlier yesterday November 22.
The incident unfolded around noon at Smugglers Cove Beach, where the tourist and a group of fellow passengers had ventured into the sea.
Eyewitnesses reported that the tourist suddenly began struggling in the water, prompting a swift response from those nearby. Acting quickly, several individuals rushed to his aid and managed to bring him safely to shore. However, the seriousness of his condition became apparent, leading to an urgent decision to transport him to Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital.
This incident has reignited concerns about the absence of lifeguards at numerous beaches across the territory, including Smugglers Cove Beach. Many individuals present at the time expressed their frustration over the lack of trained professionals who could have potentially prevented such distressing situations.
