BVI Suffers Narrow 2-1 Loss To Dominica

In an intense showdown at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground in Road Town, Tortola, the British Virgin Islands Senior National Men’s Team faced a tough 2-1 defeat against Dominica on Thursday afternoon  in  League C, Group C of the 2023/2024 Concacaf Nations League.

It was a crucial match for both teams vying for promotion to League B of the Concacaf Nations League. On November 16, Dominica secured victory in front of a packed stadium in the BVI’s capital city.

The first half remained goalless until Dominica’s Audel Laville kicked off the second half with a stunning goal in the 52nd minute.

BVI’s T’Sharne Gallimore leveled the score in the 63rd minute, but Dominica’s Eustace Marshall swiftly found the net in the 67th minute, reclaiming the lead for his team.

The home team made several attempts to break through Dominica’s defense but struggled to find success.

Following the defeat, the BVI, who previously made history with their first win in the Concacaf Nations League against Turks and Caicos on September 9, shifted to second place in League C, Group C, with five points. This includes one victory, two draws, and one loss.

On the other hand, Dominica has claimed the top spot on the table with seven points, earned through two wins and one draw.

Completing Group C is Turks and Caicos Senior Men’s National Team.
