Power Outage Plunges Jost Van Dyke into Darkness
The generator responsible for providing electricity to the Island of Jost Van Dyke suddenly ceased operation, leaving residents and businesses in complete darkness shortly before 7:00 pm tonight, October 29.
The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) has responded to the situation, assuring the community that a team is working to identify the root cause of the generator failure and restore power as quickly as possible.
Jost Van Dyke has relied on this generator for its power supply ever since September 17, when a submerged cable, which previously connected the island to the grid on Tortola, developed a critical problem and became nonfunctional.
This unfortunate occurrence left the island with no choice but to rely on the generator for its electricity needs.
