Police Seize AK-47 Rifle and Ammunition, Suspect Arrested in Free Bottom

Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department successfully seized an AK-47 rifle and a quantity of ammunition during an operation on Sunday at a residence in Free Bottom.

Following the seizure, one individual, identified as Keron Hodge, 21, from Purcell Estate, was arrested and subsequently charged.

Hodge is facing one count of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and two counts of Unlawful Possession of Explosives. He is currently in custody and will appear at the Magistrate’s Court for further proceedings.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) remains committed to its efforts in reducing the presence of illegal firearms on the streets and apprehending individuals who possess them unlawfully. In light of this incident, the RVIPF is urging the public to play an active role in saving lives and maintaining community safety by providing any information related to suspected individuals or the locations where firearms are being hidden or imported.

To encourage citizen involvement, the RVIPF has established a dedicated Crime Stoppers line at 800-8477 (TIPS) for confidential reporting. Those calling from overseas can reach the RVIPF at 1-284-800-8477. The Force also encourages individuals to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-933 with any relevant information.
