New Governor For BVI In 2024 – Current Governor John Rankin Is Retiring From Public Service

British Virgin Islands Governor John Rankin is retiring from Diplomatic Service in 2024.

From January 2024, the new Governor of the territory will be Daniel Pruce, a Foreign and Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) statement confirmed.

Pruce was Interim Director of Communication at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office from 2021 to 2022.

He also served as British Ambassador to the Philippines and non-resident Ambassador to Palau from 2017 to 2021.

Rankin became Governor of the British Virgin Islands on January 29, 2021, after servicing as Governor of Bermuda from December 2016 to November 2020.

He was previously British Ambassador to Nepal, British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and the Maldives and Director for the Americas in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, with responsibilities for a network of over 30 British embassies, high commissions and other consulates in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean.
