Two Charged Following High Speed Boat Chase In Tortola

Tortola residents Vibert Morgan and Okello James have been charged with possession of more than 500 kilos of cocaine following the May 9 high speed boat chase by the United States Federal agents and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.

The Belle Vue residents, both 34 years old, were apprehended following an air and marine operation which ended in the suspected boat running aground in Long Bay, Beef Island.

The duo has also been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled drug, and according to local authorities additional charges are pending.

They will appear in Magistrate’s Court at the next available sitting.

Investigations are ongoing.
