Governor Ready To Work With 5th HOA
British Virgin Islands Governor John Rankin says he is looking forward to working with whichever government is elected on April 24.
“I look forward to working with whichever Government is formed after the General Election to help further ensure the good governance of the BVI,” the governor said in a recent statement.
A total of 16,131 residents are registered to vote with 42 contesting candidates.
The incumbent Virgin Islands Party, chaired by Natalio Wheatley, is fielding a full slate of 13 candidates.
Nine candidates are up for election for the National Democratic Party and also for the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement.
Progressive United has one candidate in the race.
There are 11 independent candidates.
The Office of the Supervisor of Elections has confirmed that a total of 1,436 ballots were cast on Advance Polling Day on April 20.
