Jah’Kyla Morton jumps 1.67m to secure new outdoor high jump record
There is a new national outdoors high jump record holder in the British Virgin Islands. Sixteen-year-old Jah’Kyla Morton entered the Dag Samuels Development Series Meet Number Seven with a personal best of 1.60m (5’3”).
On Saturday, March 25, Morton moved up to the number one spot in the high jump with a spectacular 1.67m (5’5-3/4”) jump at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground in Road Town, Tortola.
The teenager broke the four-way national record tie of 1.65m (5’5”) set by Takola Creque of Virgin Gorda in 1994, Chantel Malone in 2008; Z’Niah Hutchinson in 2016 and Xiomara Gia Malone in 2022.
Morton jump also broke the U-20 and U-18 national record.
