BVI athletics gets more financial aid
(JTV News) — The Guana Island Grant Fund is the second organisation that has made a financial contribution to the BVI Athletics Association (BVIAA) within the past two weeks.
On Tuesday, March 14, the BVIAA disclosed on its Facebook page that it has received $2,500 from Guana Island Grant Fund.
The Association said the funding will “greatly” help to promote and provide for its athletes with “regional and international competition opportunities, geared towards their individual athletic advancement”.
On March 7, Joma (Properties) Ltd. disclosed that it made a donation of $3,000 towards the British Virgin Islands team for participation in the 50th Carifta Games, scheduled for April 8-10 in The Bahamas.
The BVIAA said in a statement, at the time, that it will “remain forever grateful” for the annual generosity shown to the Association by Joma Properties as it prepares the athletes for Carifta 2023.
Joma, in a statement, said: “We are honored to sponsor the BVI Athletics Association (BVIAA) Team, participating in the 50th NACAC CARIFTA Games with the infusion of $3000 towards the much-anticipated championships.
“In its 50 years, the CARIFTA Games has nurtured the talents of numerous athletes who went on to represent the BVI internationally. In last year’s Games in Jamaica, Adaejah T. Hodge ended as a triple gold medalist and winner of the Austin Sealy Trophy for the most outstanding athlete. We wish the 2023 BVI CARIFTA Team all the best!”
