Homicide #2: Man fatally shot in Road Town; female appears at hospital with gunshot wound

British Virgin Islands law enforcement officials are investigating the territory’s second homicide for 2023 following a shooting early Sunday morning in Road Town, Tortola which left one male dead.
The victim has not been officially identified.
JTV News understands that the shooting occurred around 4 a.m. near UPs Cineplex.
Meanwhile, a female showed up at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital with a gunshot wound to one of her legs, but police said there is no evidence, so far, to prove that both incidents are related.
In a statement, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force said: “The RVIPF can confirm the fatal wounding of one male following a shooting incident in the vicinity of the House of Assembly Building in Road Town in the early hours of this morning. A female reported to the Dr. D. O. Smith Hospital also with a gunshot wound to the leg. The two incidents have not been linked so far. No other information is available at this time.”
This is the territory’s second homicide within seven days.
On Monday, Jan. 6, after 6 p.m., 42-year-old Long Look resident, Yan Edwards, was gunned down at a bar in Parham Town, East End on Tortola.
Edwards was a former murder accused and was out on bail at the time of his killing.
