Jah’kyla Morton of the British Virgin Islands secured the territory’s first medal at the 53rd CARIFTA Games, winning silver in the Under-20 high jump at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium in St. George’s, Grenada, where the championships were held April 4–6. This marks her fourth medal in five years.

Morton’s performance is reminiscent of the same feat she accomplished in 2023, when she won the territory’s first medal, a silver medal, in the Under-17 girls high jump at the CARIFTA Games in Nassau, Bahamas. She cleared 1.70 meters in that competition to place second.

In 2026, competing in the Under-20 division, Morton again finished second on the podium, continuing her progression within the region’s premier junior athletics competition.

The 27-member delegation is led by Team Manager Tarika Moses and Head Coach Annabelle Skelton-Malone. It also includes NACAC-appointed referee Rosalind Leonard-Fahie and pole vault official Dezarre Woodley.”

The CARIFTA Games, an annual championship featuring athletes from across the Caribbean, serves as a key development platform for emerging track and field talent.
